System house aeroacess installs more than 400 WLAN access points

Not far from the Eiffel Tower, the Parisian shopping center "So Ouest" invites you to store and enjoy. The huge building complex houses 102 stores, a supermarket, six restaurants and a cinema. Attached to it is a 22-storey business center equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The WLAN installation, which was installed by the system house aeroaccess from Unterföhring, Germany. The mobile network is the fifth Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac, also known as 5G Wi-Fi with gigabit speeds.

The Unterföhring-based system house has specialized in complex WLAN networks for years and has already carried out several international installations. For the "So Ouest" project, however, the aeroaccess experts faced particular challenges when planning and implementing the WLAN network. At peak times, more than 2,000 users log into the department store network. After extensive testing, it was clear that more than 400 access points were needed to ensure the necessary performance and coverage. The existing metal floors and ceilings, lots of glass and the extensive cooling and exhaust air technology in the office complex make illumination and network coverage even more difficult.

Mobile analysis via tablet

To determine where best to place the access points, the aeroaccess team used the OptiView XG from partner Fluke Networks for WiFi and spectrum analysis. Using the portable tablet form factor, employees were able to move around the building and capture, analyze and resolve connectivity and application issues across the network on the go.

"With such demanding tasks, the majority of the project consists of precise planning and on-site analysis," explains Thomas Rödel, Managing Director of aeroaccess GmbH. "Our experience and the analyses with the Fluke OptiView XG ultimately created the optimum conditions for the installation of a high-performance wireless network that achieves gigabit speeds for smooth working."

In addition to corporate solutions, aeroaccess also implements installations in the education sector. For example, the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Friedrichshafen has also switched to the "Webturbo" 802.11ac with the help of the system house.
